Theatre Washington Announces Theatre Week 2025

Theatre Washington has announced the return of Theatre Week 2025, a dynamic three-week celebration highlighting the D.C. area’s vibrant, diverse, and world-class theatrical community.


Running from September 18 to October 5, the annual event is designed to make regional theater accessible to both local residents and visitors.

Theatre Week provides special, reduced-price tickets to more than 20 productions across the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, with prices set at $25, $45, and $65. These special offers are made possible through a partnership with TodayTix.

In addition to the discounted ticket offerings, Theatre Week 2025 includes several free community events:

  • Lights Up! Theatre Week Concert: A free concert at The Wharf on Sunday, September 28, at 3 p.m.

  • 2025-26 Season Preview: An insider look at the upcoming season's theatrical offerings, held on Monday, September 29, at Studio Theatre.


A City’s “Standing Ovation for the Arts”

Amy Austin, president and CEO of Theatre Washington, emphasized the vital role the event plays in the cultural landscape.


“Theatre Week is our city’s standing ovation for the arts,” Austin stated. “It’s a reminder that theatre isn’t just entertainment—it’s a place to gather, connect, and see the world through someone else’s eyes. This celebration opens doors to every corner of our theatre community, and everyone is welcome.”


She noted that the event encourages residents and visitors every fall to discover something new, from intimate black box premieres to large-scale musical revivals and free community gatherings.

More than 20 theaters spanning Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland are participating in the 2025 Theatre Week. The programming features a diverse array of genres, including musicals, dramas, solo performances, and works for young audiences:
